Instruções de Regata

1. RULES

1.1 The Rules of the Championships are

  • The ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing 2005-2008 [RRS] Windsurfing Edition

  • The IFWC Class Rules and Grand Prix General Rules

  • The IFCA Class Rules & Championship Rules

  • The Notice of Race and these Sailing Instructions

1.2 In case of a discrepancy within the rules, these Sailing Instructions will take precedence. 1.3 If there is a conflict between languages, the English text will prevail.

2. SAFETY & ENTRIES

2.1 The safety of the sailboard and its entire management including insurance shall be the sole responsibility of the competitor racing the sailboard who must ensure that the sailboard is adequate to face the conditions that may arise in the course of the race. Neither the establishment of these sailing instructions nor the inspection of the board under these conditions in any way limits or reduces the absolute responsibility of the competitor for his/her board and entire management thereof. The race organizers, the race committee and the jury will not be responsible for any loss, damage, death or personal injury however caused to the competitors as a result of their taking part in the race or races.

2.2 Eligible competitors may complete entry formalities at the Regatta Secretariat, by complying with NoR Art. 25.


3. NOTICE TO COMPETITORS & CHANGES TO SAILING INSTRUCTION

3.1 Notices to competitors will be posted on the Official Notice Board (ONB) located on the beach.

3.2 Any change to the SI will be posted at least 30 minutes before the warning signal of the race or races concerned. Changes affecting the schedule of the next days racing shall be posted not later than 20.00 hours.

4. ADVERTISING & EQUIPMENT

4.1 IFWC and IFCA are designated Category C as set out in ISAF Regulation 20 – Advertising Code.

4.2 Competitors are required to wear the advertising vest, provided by the organizer at the registration, while racing and training and on the race site.

4.3 Organizers sail stickers are mandatory on both sides of the sails.

4.4 The equipment has to comply with the rules mentioned under 1. Boards, equipment and clothing may be measured or checked before or after any race at the discretion of the Measurer or the Race Committee.


5. SIGNALS MADE ASHORE

5.1 Signals made ashore will be displayed on the Official Flag Poles, situated at the beach.

5.2 When flag AP is displayed ashore (with 2 sound signals), the warning signal will be made not less than 20 minutes after AP is lowered (with1 sound signal).Alteration to RRS – Race Signals

6. SCHEDULE OF RACES AND OFFICIAL BRIEFINGS

6.1 The daily skippers meeting will be held at 10:00.6.2 The time of the first possible Warning Signal will be at 11:00.6.3 If during a day the Race Committee changes the discipline, the first possible Warning Signal will be made not less than 30 minutes after displaying the new discipline flag.


7. DISCIPLINE & CLASS FLAGS:

8. RACING AREA

The racing area and courses will be as illustrated on the ONB. The course diagram (not to scale) will be posted on the ONB at least 30 minutes before the warning signal. Courses will be as prescribed in the IFWC & IFCA Championship Rules 2007 or variations of it.

9. MARKS

The marks shall be described on the course diagram.

10. STARTING

10.1 Starting procedure Formula Windsurfing1 - RRS B 3.2 (a) applies.

  • 5 min -- class flag up
    • 4 min -- preparatory signal (P, I, Black flag)
    • 1 min -- preparatory signal down
    • start -- class flag down
10.2 Starting procedure Slalom - RRS B.3.2 (b) is modified as follows.
    • 4 min -- Heat number displayed
    • 3 min -- red flag up
    • 2 min -- red flag down
    • 1 min -- yellow flag up
    • 30 seconds -- yellow flag down
    • start -- green flag up

10.3 For slalom:

During the last 30 seconds before her starting signal a board shall not luff or bear away, forcing another board to take immediate action to avoid contact. 10.4 For Formula Windsurfing: If the I flag is used, no part of a boat’s hull, crew or equipment shall be in the triangle formed by the ends of the starting line and the first mark during the minute before her starting signal. If a boat infringes this rule she shall thereafter sail from the course side across an extension to the pre-start side before starting. This modifies RRS 30.1.

    1. The starting line will be closed 2 minutes after a valid start.
    2. The starting line will be illustrated on the course diagram


11. RECALLS

11.1 For Slalom General Recalls will be signaled in accordance with RRS 29.3.

12. FINISH

12.1 The finishing line shall be illustrated on the course diagram. 12.2 All boards that have finished must keep clear of competitors still racing.

13. TIME LIMITS

The time limit is 20 minutes for Formula Windsurfing and 5 minutes for slalom after the first finishing board in each division.

14. PROTESTS

14.1 Appendix B 7 will apply, and the protest time limit for formula windsurfing will end 45 minutes after the last finisher in the last race of the day.

14.2 An independent protest committee will handle the protests

15. SCORING

15.1 Appendix B8.3 applies. The Low point System will apply to Formula ; the Alternative Point System will apply to Slalom.

15.2 As stated in the Rules a valid result is established after one formula race or one completed slalom elimination.

15.3 A maximum of 15 races can be sailed in Formula Windsurfing.

15.4 A maximum of 8 elimination series can be sailed in Slalom.

16. PRIZES & TITLES

The distribution of the prizes and prize fund will be posted on the official notice board before the 1st race.

17. OFFICIAL FUNCTIONS

The attendance of all competitors to the opening and closing ceremonies are mandatory.
